Community Engagement
The Atlantica Centre for Energy is an industry association promoting the sustainable growth of the region’s energy sector. We work collaboratively with energy companies and communities to encourage broad-based community engagement.
Created in June 2005 as an independent voice that supports and promotes opportunities in the energy sector, our aim is to act as a bridge between corporations and communities to provide a unified voice on opportunities and challenges presented by the regions Energy Hub projects.
A mantra that has been embraced by companies participating in the Energy Hub is that “we may recognize that it is senior levels of governments that grant permits, it is communities that grant permission for a project.” This phrase is symbolic of the spirit of community engagement that we must continue to grow as the Energy Hub evolves.
This spring, Benefits Blueprint, a broad-based community initiative funded by the Government of Canada, the Government of New Brunswick and Irving Oil Limited, unveiled 16 recommendations designed to optimize the economic growth and social benefits resulting from existing and proposed Energy Hub capital projects.
