Developments: Huskilson joins Algonquin board
Chris Huskilson, retired CEO of Emera Inc., has joined the Board of Directors of Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp., owner of Liberty Utilities which has the natural gas distribution franchise in New Brunswick.
Algonquin Power & Utilities is a growing renewable energy and regulated utility company with assets across North America. The corporation focuses on green and clean energy assets including hydroelectric, wind, thermal, and solar power facilities, as well as sustainable utility distribution businesses (water, electricity and natural gas) through its two operating subsidiaries: Liberty Power and Liberty Utilities.
Algonquin has rapidly expanded operations and continues to look at regional investments in the Maritime provinces under the Liberty banner.
During his tenure as CEO of Emera, the company grew from $3 billion to $30 billion in assets. Since leaving Emera in 2018, Huskilson has been very involved in supporting the start-up ecosystem emerging in Atlantic Canada.
