The Atlantic Provinces Economic Council (APEC) is committed to continuously reviewing and improving our organization. We are excited to announce a new operational name change. Effective June 27th, 2023, we are the Atlantic Economic Council. Changing our name to the Atlantic Economic Council makes our organization more accessible in the digital space. We also launched a new, modernized website tailored to enhance your online experience with us.

The innerworkings have not changed. Our services and operations remain the same. We will continue to provide independent, regionally focused economic research.

Our latest research series is on the economic implications of the transition to net-zero emissions. We released five net-zero reports with many more to come. One of the reports discussed key economic risks associated with the transition. It showed that five industry sectors represent 90% of Atlantic business emissions while contributing to over half of our region’s economic output. Another report outlined actions that Atlantic businesses should take to reduce their carbon footprint, as many small to medium sized enterprises do not have a climate plan. Future net-zero reports will delve deeper into areas such as our region’s major sources of emissions and promising clean technologies. To discuss this research, please reach out to Lana Asaff, Senior Economist.

We have also been upgrading our suite of member publications to align with the launch of the Atlantic Economic Council. We redesigned their format and introduced new publications like ATLΛNTIC City Trends, ATLΛNTIC Industry Watch, ATLΛNTIC Policy ViewPoint and ATLΛNTIC Economic Insights. Accessing our analysis and advice through these publications is among the many benefits of becoming a member of our organization. We rely on a broad membership base to support our team and be able to undertake in-depth funded research like net-zero. Please reach out to Lisa Keddy, Member Relations Manager, to learn more about how to support our independent research.
