In reviewing the most-read energy stories in Highlights during 2021, our readers were most interested in October’s launch of the Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance in Halifax.
Throughout the year, readers had an interest in developing technologies, especially those that will lead to reduced greenhouse gas emissions for the region. In fact, all of the top stories for 2021 involved reduced-emissions technologies.
In April, Ottawa and various provinces backed SMR development, while Nova Scotia towns eyed biomass-fuelled district energy systems in May. Solar farms were a hit in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in July.
In August, Irving Oil Ltd. and TC Energy announced they were exploring potential projects to decarbonize refinery operations. And a month later in September, the offshore energy sector got a boost from the Oceans Supercluster.
