Statement from Stephen MacMackin, Chair, Atlantica Centre for Energy on passing of Arthur L. Irving
May 14, 2024
Saint John, NB – On behalf of the Atlantica Centre for Energy, it is with deep sadness to hear the news of Irving Oil Chairman, Emeritus, Arthur L. Irving’s passing.
His leadership and vision have ensured that Irving Oil remains a backbone of Atlantic Canada’s energy sector and is now positioned as a global energy company with a strong presence in the United States and Europe.
Mr. Irving’s approach has allowed Irving Oil to remain passionately Atlantic Canadian by continuously making investments in their employees, infrastructure, and communities.
Irving Oil was a founding member of the Centre nearly 20 years ago, and the Atlantica Centre for Energy would not be where it is today without Mr. Irving and Irving Oil’s continuous investment and support.
Mr. Irving will be deeply missed, and the Centre will continue to follow his lead in encouraging the growth of the energy sector across Atlantic Canada.
Stephen MacMackin, Chair
