We’re excited to welcome Fatima Syed Aamir (she/her) as our new Communications Manager at the Atlantica Centre for Energy. Fatima joined the team in July and has already been helping shape how we share our stories, strengthen our connections, and keep Atlantica’s audience informed and inspired.
With a background in UX writing and content design, and more than 10 years of professional work experience, Fatima brings a thoughtful and user-centered approach to every message. Before joining Atlantica, she worked with the Government of New Brunswick on a major website revamp, as part of New Brunswick’s digital transformation strategy — an experience that deepened her focus on clarity, accessibility, and user-centered communication.
Her role at Atlantica now focuses on ensuring the public stays informed and educated about the ever-evolving energy landscape.
“I love writing for a purpose,” Fatima says. “At Atlantica, that means helping people understand energy in a way that feels human and meaningful.”
As a mom of two, Fatima’s storytelling skills are constantly in practice. “When you spend your day breaking big concepts into simple words for children, you start writing better for everyone,” she laughs. Her UX background and life experiences combine to bring fresh perspective and empathy to Atlantica’s communications.
Fatima moved to New Brunswick from Dubai in search of a better work-life balance and a calmer pace. “I love writing, but my mind is usually a mix of useful information and Ms. Rachel’s songs,” she jokes. “My favourite thing to do is sit and watch rain with a cup of chaye – our traditional Pakistani tea – with my husband, while our kids play… if they let me.”
At Atlantica, Fatima is most excited about writing for impact – from improving energy literacy to helping more people understand Atlantic Canada’s clean energy transition. Her storytelling, digital expertise, and warm tone will help Atlantica continue connecting industry, communities, and ideas across the region.
